It is a housing scheme of central government. It was launched on 25 Jun 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Aim of the scheme
It aims to construct 2 crore houses within 7 years from 2015 to 2022, which will be completed in 3 phases. Phase 1 will start from April 2015 till march 2017. Phase 2 will start from April 2017 to March 2019. Third phase will start from April 2019 to March 2022.
Beneficiaries of the scheme
Homeless persons, poor urban people and belonging to EWS and LIG categories.

Subsidy -
The government will provide subsidy to beneficiaries to buy home from 1 to 2.5 lakh rupees .
Installation of solar energy panel
On 25 January 2016 Union Government approved to set up solar energy panels on the top 100 00 EWS houses in Tamilnadu under this scheme .The Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation will provide an assistance of 150000 rupees per house while the State Government will contribute 60000 rupees and the beneficiary’s contribution will be 43000 rupees.
